Apple Hill Hidden Gems: Part 2
Our next stop is Lava Cap Winery and it was both a surprise and delight.
The tasting room was more of what we’re used to seeing with personal and local nuances reflecting the earthy and artististic feel of the Jones Family. The volcanic-rich soil is perfect for grapes and their wines showcase this terroir deliciously.
For $5 we tasted five wines.
Wow! Five wines for $5?!? We did a double-take. Usually the tasting fee in the Napa Valley is a minimum of $15 per person. Geez…this was a steal and the wines were top notch!
We ended up going home with two wines:
- Sauvignon Blanc
- Cabernet Franc
I still wish I‘d bought their Chardonnay. It was delicious! Next time for sure!
