Problem
You are here because you have some questions whether to buy the new iPhone Xs. The price is definitely nothing to joke about since we’re talking about a $1,000 phone. With that kind of money you can buy a rather decent computer or laptop. In this review, I will give you my opinion on:
- If you have an iPhone X, should you upgrade or wait?
- If you don’t have an iPhone X, should you upgrade to the newest iPhone?
- What accessories does it come with?
- How does the screen hold up? Do Apple still have the magic touch?
My Review
If you don’t like to read, you can watch my video review below:
Full disclaimer, I used to be an avid Android user and switched over to an iPhone about 5 years ago due to Apple’s snappy UI and I despise 3rd party pre-install applications in the Android ecosystem.
What’s in the box?
- EarPods with lightning connector
- iPhone
- Lightning to USB cable
- 5w USB power adapter
- Pin to eject sim card (AT&T model)
Unfortunately if you want to use your Earpods on a device that uses a standard headphone jack, you’ll need to purchase an adapter for it
OLED Display
If you have an iPhone X, you will probably see a minor improvement on the screen quality such as sharpness and more vibrant colors. However, if you are a generation or two behind, you will most likely see a huge improvement in screen quality. All in all, the OLED display is very nice as should be expected from Apple.
iOS 12
I have never been a feature user in iOS, but the UI is snappy and responsive as always. The first time you turn on your iPhone Xs, you must be connected to WiFi or a cell network for activation. You will not be able to get to the home screen until you activate your phone. For more information, watch my video review above. Expect anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes on setting up your new iPhone such as setting up Siri, FaceID, WiFi, and etc.
Conclusion – My Final Thoughts
Should you upgrade to the new iPhone Xs?
If you have the money to shell out and a total Apple fanboy I would say go for it! The iPhone Xs is one great piece of technology.
If you have the previous iPhone X and strap for cash, I would recommend you skip this phone. The improvement between the iPhone X to Xs is minor in my opinion. You’ll probably notice a slight improvement with the OLED and snappier response, but that’s about all I can notice.
If you are a generation or two behind with the iPhone or if this is your first iPhone, you are going to be ecstatic with this fine piece of machinery in your pocket, you’re going to fall in love with the beautiful OLED display.
